>> every word out of his mouth is a life. every single word.
3:11 am
we remain friends. >> how did you break up with him? >> i don't even remember. it was a mutual breakup. we were fighting too bad. >> i think i told you -- >> hold on a second. i'm not talking to you yet. did you just make that face at me? you didn't do that, did you? look at me. apologize. >> this is the plaintiff. she says she had a one night stand with the pathological lying defendant who basically charmed her into loaning him money. that's right. she knows she's a cougar and looks great but the defendant preyed upon her vulnerability. she felt bad for him and forked over $1400 of her hard earned money and she wants itit back here and now. this is the defendant. he says h hhad his way with the plaintiff a few times and before you know it, she's calling him 85 times a day. he has to pay 10 bucks a month
3:12 am
now to the phone company to block her calls from getting through. the woman is one of those scorned types who wants every gift she gave him back. if the judge wants, he could line up here from here to texas to testify the woman is a lunatic and has no case against him. he's accused of flipping off a fling. >> all parties please raise your right hands. >> what you are about to witness is real. the participants are not actors. they are actual litigants with a case pending in civil court. both parties have agreed to drop their claims and have their cases settled here, mr. judge milian in our forum, the people's court. >> be seated. come to order, please. litigants have been sworn, your honor. >> thank you, douglas. >> you're welcome, ma'am. >> jodi, you want to be referred to only by your first
3:13 am
name. you're suing adam gross for $1,400 in cash loans that you say you made to him that he has not repaid you for. tell me what's going on. >> i met adam about a year ago in a bar by my house that he hangs out in almost every night. >> did you hang out there, too, or -- >> not normally. i went in there and we had a one night stand. it sort of turned into a fling relationship and i pretty much fell in love with the guy and he basically scammed me for the whole time that i was with him. >> how long were you with him? >> eight months. we broke up in october of 2009. >> how often would you see him? >> almost every day pretty much. >> almost every day. so this is a full fledged relationship where you were seeing him every day. >> yeah. >> and seeing him every day by designgn where he was making ti to see you, not where you would go to the bar where he was a fixture.
3:14 am
>> i would have to go to the bar to see him because he wouldn't appears the door or he would show up three days later. that's how he runs his life. he doesn't -- >> how do you let him run your life that way? >> i don't know. stupidity, you know. >> slim pickings? a bit of a dry spell? >> more like that or, you know, you fall in love with the wrong people. that's usually my problem in life. not with business but with my love life. that's what happens usually. >> okay. so go on. is there an age difference between you? >> yes. 10 years' age difference. >> go on. >> so basically he had all of this drama. his father was dying of cancer, his mother had all of these mental problems. he was living at home with his family and -- >> how old was he? >> how old is he? >> yes. >> 31. almost 32. he had a daughter he lost
3:15 am
custody of and he told me that he saw her all the time and i've come to find out from four different sources that he hasn't seen her in over two years. >> who are the four sources? >> the mother of his child, his mother, his mother's boyfriend and another ex-girlfriend of his. >> how did you come to speak to all of these people about them? >> he showed me -- >> hold on. what's your problem? seriously. show a little bit more -- >> that's the whole point. >> i didn't pick him. you did. stop whining. please show more respect in my courtroom, okay? go ahead. >> he showed me all of these people. >> look. the fact that somebody shows you a picture of their family doesn't mean that you get to snoop around and talk to them. they talk to you and tell you these things. how is it that you bond up with all of these people so they can trash him? >> i was with him when his
3:16 am
father died. i held his hand on his deathbed. i was involved with his family and his life. >> why didn't any of them tell you what do you mean, his daughter? he hasn't seen his daughter. >> they didn't tell me because nobody wanted to talk about it. it was like a very quiet situation. and when he kept asking me for money, i finally was like why is he asking me for all of this money? >> how did you come to loan him $1400? >> it's over a year. >> how do you know it's $1400? you have proof. >> i have more than $1400. this is what i'm asking you for, $1400. >> show me the proof that you just hit with your hand in that folder. >> plus i have a witness, too. >> okay. according to your complaint, adam is a pot head. i'm pretty sure he runs drugs for people out of the tavern in question that you met him at. i'm 41. he's 31. i look great if you do say so for yourself. i'm a cougar and thought he was fun. not to mention, i thought i
3:17 am
could help him. you broke up with him according to you? whenenid you break up with him? >> october. >> why did you break up with him? >> because i couldn't take it anymore. i was completely brainwashed by him. every word out of his mouth is a life. every single word. so i couldn't -- we remain friends. >> how did you break up with him? >> i don't even remember. it was a mutual breakup. we just realized we were fighting too much. let's break up. >> i told you -- >> i'm talking to right now. you didn't make that sense to you, did you? >> i did make that face to you. >> do you think it will hurt your case? >> i don't think it has anything to do with us? >> seriously? are you stoned right now? >> do you believe everything she says? >> no, i don't. i want to know if you did some coke before you came in here? >> cocaine?
3:18 am
>> he doesn't do cocaine. >> no? he looks mellow, agitated. that's what's bothering me. making faces at the judge and stuff. it's that erratic behavior. most people are on their best behavior when you're in court. i'm talking. most people are not rolling eyes and saying, yeah, i just rolled my eyes to you. either they're a freak they took something before coming here. it's one or the other. >> remember crack is whack. that testimony continues. >> she calls my mother and now i'm here now for this. and she wants me to pay her week by week by week so i can stay in her life another 15 weeks. >> your pants are falling down. >> why are you worried about my pants? >> where are you from? >> new york. >> i have to wonder, what do you expect to happen? >> i was banging her within 45

hey! you're gonna wash the deck. i love it. not wash. power wash. ok. whoa. [ female announcer ] life comes with headaches and that's when people reach for excedrin. excedrin stsrts relieving headaches faster than extra strength tylenol and advil. the deck looks great. oh, we just washed it. well, not washed, power washed. big difference. hum. big. [ female announcer ] excedrin. for life's headaches.
3:21 am
>> she's 41. he's 31. they hooked up and now she claims he wanted her money. now he's saying she's a stalker. he's acting so high the judge thinks he may be on coke. let's listen. >> according to you, you loaned him $1400 during the course of your relationship with him. my question to you is, prove it. >> the first probably actual money payment that i gave him, i can tell you right now. >> while you're looking, did you date her for eight months? >> no. >> okay. what happened? you keep looking. >> we met in a bar. i was in her house within 45 minutes of meeting her. i left. we met up the next day. >> we didn't meet up the next day. >> hold on.
3:22 am
stop. stop. stop. >> we talked the next day, i should say. the bar we go to is across the street from her house so she started coming by every day since i met her. she's been ejected from my building twice by security. >> that's separate from the tavern. >> yes. but she's been ejected twice by my building by security. her dog came sick. she was screaming and yelling saying whoever is in there, whatever girl you're with -- it was raining the night before. i had my shoes outside. she stole my shoes and took them with her so i couldn't leave my house. then she came back -- >> you only have one pair of shoe ?z >> no. i had two pairs. she took them both. my friend was down stairs waiting for me. i want to come up. does he have a girl up there? my friend is like, no. you're going to cause trouble. she called the police saying i stole a playstation from her.
3:23 am
how i did that, i don't know, unless i'm a cat burglar or something. >> hold on. hold on. >> and stole a playstation from her. she's called me multiple times. >> did you get a playstation from her? >> she gave it to me for my birthday. i told her i didn't want it. it's too expensive. >> when was your birthday? >> september 1. >> go on. >> she sent me multiple texts of she's going to kill herself if i don't pick up the phone. >> do you have those texts? >> i don't know i was going to court. >> you knew there were problems because you had to get her banned from the place. apparently the bar, too, right? >> yes. >> you knew this was brewing. >> exactly my point. i got her banned from my -- blocked from calling my number. >> wouldn't it be good to keep a few texts? >> i didn't know this was going to happen. i wasn't expecting this. >> none of that was enough evidence this might happen? >> everybody told me she's going to kill me. she's going to come up and shoot me where i am. that's the next step. >> so she's about to kill you
3:24 am
but you didn't know she was going to sue you. >> i don't owe her anything. >> i have the lawyer's letter, too. >> stop. go ahead. >> she sent me multiple texts. i'm going to kill yourself. this is your fault. i never did anything. she stalked me. she has called me 39 times a day. she walks by the bar every day. >> i live in the neighborhood. >> do not talk to each other. guys, you're not the bar. >> i'm not here to hash out our relationship. just let her show proof that i owe her money. the only money she handed me was to buy her pot and that was it which i went to get for her. >> okay. so when you say -- in your answer to the complaint she's going to say a pot head which is true. >> i knew everything she's going to stay. this is her last two vial attempts to get back to me. >> i don't think you need help with that.
3:25 am
i think you do a fine job on your own. according to you, she's a woman scorned. >> she told me multiple times, be my boyfriend. you never have to work. i'll take care of you. this and that. i said no. she even said i'm in love with you. i said i'm not in love with you. i love you and care about you but not in that way. that's it. >> you can't even be quiet long enough to let the man finish a sentence. >> because he's lying. every word out of his mouth is a lie. >> so you can interrupt testimony? >> no. >> she called three of my girlfriends behind my back. she calls my mother. she does anything to get close to me. now i'm here with this and she wants me to pay her week by week by week so i can stay in her life another 15 weeks. >> no. you owe me money. your pants are falling down, by the way. >> why are you worried about my pants? >> where are you from? new york.
3:26 am
you expect that to happen. >> i was banging her within 45 minutes of meeting her. what did she think was going to happen? >> that's awful sexist of you. in other words, you would never be with a girl that would sleep with you within 45 minutes. >> i didn't want a long, drn out relationship. >> but apparently you were just so irresistible -- >> you can make fun of me all you want. >> i believe that was the case. she can't even shut up. >> i really don't care. >> it's fascinating to me. the more you talk, the more fascinating it is to me. >> okay. the first was the 19th of june for $100. >> how are you proving that? >> well, because he doesn't have a checking account. >> i want you to listen to me. prove it. what is that? hand it. >> she took out money that day. >> now, what is it you would like me to look at on this
3:27 am
piece of paper? >> where it's highlighted. >> it says a.t.m. withdrawal. how do i know that was for him? >> that's the only proof i have because he doesn't have a checking account so i can't -- >> so did you highlight a lot of a.t.m. withdrawals and that's the proof you have that you loaned him $1400? >> that's the proof i have. you can believe it or not a -- believe it. >> who are you? >> i'm her friend and neighbor. during all of this crazy fighting, he called me saying jodi is driving him crazy. i said if you would like her to leave you alone, why don't you pay her? he said because i don't owe her. >> it's not even about the money. you see the way he is.
3:28 am
he's lying. you know, whenen i was with him when his father died, that was very hard for me. my father died. i wasn't able to be with him when he died. i sat with him, went to the funeral, held his hand. and for me to ,,,,
3:29 am
>> welcome back to the people's court. if you were a 41-yeaear-old woman, would you date a 31-year-old guy? >> initially it would be all pudding but i think i would. depending on the guy's personality. >> if you got a 41-year-old woman after you and you're 31, is she desperate? >> definitely. >> going in the courtroom. >> this lawsuit says $1400 total of cash loans but my understanding is that you're also suing for an ipod, a playstation and some books. tell me about that. is that what the book is there? watch yourself. you can't play with doug.
3:30 am
so -- >> who is doug? >> douglas. >> he's the man who is going to fix your wagon if you don't show respect here. let me ask you a question. is that the book you're referring to? >> yes. >> now, you're also referring to an ipod. tell me about that. >> i gave him my ipod one morning. he never gave it back to me. i don't care. he probably sold it for money. who knows? i swear against everything i have, i've never been thrown out of his building. he does not have a doorman. >> were you banned from the bar? >> i was thrown out of the bar if i was with adam. i could be there separately but if we were together, no. i was not allowed in the bar. >> why you? why not him? because it's his home and they protect him. and those people that are in that bar -- wait a minute. let me finish here. this is relevant. i've had in my house numerous times, because they were friends of him, thrown parties, paid for everything, had a
3:31 am
birthday party for him that cost me probably over $1,000. >> you're the kind of person that would spend a lot of money on him. it's not because you were trying to buy his love. it's because you were, quote, trying to help him because you're a good looking together, uptown good and he was trash. that's sort of what you're saying in your complaint. >> that's what i was told by everybody that met him. my mother, everybody. but i didn't see that. i saw something else. i fell in love with him and i'm sorry if i did. i regret that i did. >> i believe everything in our past is meant to teach us something. i would like you to learn it and stop being a victim. i would like you to learn the lesson that's been placed in your past. the playstation, tell me about that. >> i gave that to him for his birthday? >> why does he have to give it back to you then? >> he doesn't have to. he probably sold it. >> let me tell you a couple of other things. get out of my courtroom.
3:32 am
done. we're done. jodi, let me tell you a couple of things, okay? number one, if this is how he behaves in a court of law where people are usually on their best behavior, i can't for the life of me understand -- and matters of the heart are very hard to analyze but what you were thinking. >> i know. >> so it is what it is. do you think you're the first woman or the last woman who fell for -- >> he's done this to so many people. can i just say? >> yeah. go ahead. >> it's not even about the money. you see the way he is. >> right. >> he's lied. you know, when i was with him when his father died, that was very hard for me. my father died. i wasn't able to be with him when he died. i sat with him, went to the bronx, i held his hand. you know, it was like an emotional thing. for him to sit here and say i wasn't his girlfriend? it's just wrong. you know? >> but here is what i see when
3:33 am
that happened. when i see when that happens is whew. good riddance. i get to move on with my life and find somebody that deserves me. what you see is vengeance. you have got to let go, jodi, for you. >> i know. i am letting go. >> do you understand what i'm saying? you have to let go. you are not my first boyfriend, girlfriend gift case. i do this all day long. you have a little proof problem. the best you can show me is a friend that says he confessed and he denies it. that's not the best proof. just listen. >> he doesn't have a checking account. >> then that's what it is. do you understand? i'm not going to rule in your favor. i'm going to rule in his favor in this case but you need to understand this is so much more profound than $1400 and you don't. you don't understand it. this is about you and your dignity and moving on and learning a life lesson from this and understanding that if you ever loan a man a penny
3:34 am
ever, you should get it in writing. yeah, no problem. you need that $100? >> you're going to rule in his favor? >> pardon me? >> you're going to rule in his favor? >> yes. i'm sworn to do what's right in a case even if i hate the guy. yeah. i think he's an awful person but i've got to rule in his favor because you have no proof of loan. you have a lot of evidence of trying to buy his love. >> what about this? >> jodi, we're done. at this point, it's about you figuring out a way to heal yourself which i don't think is going to happen. i suspect that you might find yourself in this very same position in the future. >> i don't think that's possible. >> i hope you're right. good luck to you, my dear. verdict for mr. gross. >> all right. so this is the defendant right here. he was sitting in the courtroom waiting for the case. what's going through your mind right now? >> i'm just happy it's over and she's out of my life period. >> do you think she is? do you think you've seen the
3:35 am
last of her? >> no. i'll probably wind up dead. >> are you really just a jiggelo? that's how you portrayed yourself in the courtroom. >> how did i portray myself like that? i got caught up in a crazy cougar situation. that's it. >> anything else? >> that's it. >> all right. thank you. right around there. come in here, jodi. plaintiff, what have you learned out of all of this? >> i'm speechless. i've learned that -- never to loan anybody money, never to get involved with people that you meet in bars. >> what are you going to do in the evenings? stay out of the bars or go back? >> i don't know what i'm going to do. i don't want to talk anymore. >> you're done with him really? >> yes. >> your feelings about him? >> i have no feelings for him. he makes me want to vomit. i would have liked my money back but obviously i didn't get that so -- >> all right. over to harvey. >> clearly she was trying to buy his love.
3:36 am
when you have a situation like this where somebody is keeping gift after gift after gift on somebody, it will never -- let me emphasize that word, never work out. and that will do it for this case. litigants for the next case on the way into the courtroom right now. >> this is the plaintiff. he says the defendant has been piling hazardous, toxic waste on his property, killing his vines and also dashing his dream of having a wine vineyard. she has no right to do this, won't stop and he needs the judge to award him the $5,000 he's out. this is the defendant. she says the plaintiff damaged her fence, was ordered by a judge to pay her so she could get it fixed and has ignored the order for almost four years. she has dogs and a horse who get out because of the holes in the damaged fence so she's been
3:37 am
making compost piles. they're quite healthy and it produces the most healthy tomatos you've ever seen. if anybody is wrong, it's the plaintiff. she's accused of dumping duty on a neighbor. the defendant has filed a counter suit for $5,000 for aggravation. >> all parties please raise your right hands. >> well, all of a sudden we see somebody drop off two spanish guys, who chairs, a gallon of water and a chain saw. >> okay. of what relevance is it that they're spanish? >> when i tried to ask them what they were doing, they couldn't understand what i was saying. >> okay. it's not because like we're cheap labor and we're not good at what we do, right? >> no.,,,,
3:38 am
>> next case, the plaintiff says his neighbor toxic land ruined his dream of having a wine vineyard. the defendant says the real problem is the fence and the stuff in the ground is manure, not toxic. >> you are suing betsy and edward? okay. represented here by betsy for $5,000, the cost of manure removal and destroyed grapevines because according to
3:39 am
you, she maliciously -- they maliciously dumped manure on your property. you're counterclaiming for $5,000 for aggravation. what's going on? what happened? >> i had 50 by 480 next to mrs. betsy. that property is about 245 by 480. mine is a little bit of property. i got the property 20 years ago. >> is it a buildable lot or not? >> it's buildable but not buildable now. i like to make a winery over there. we used to have like 20 acres of grapevines and those things. >> had you ever actually grown vineyards on the piece of property or you were planning to?
3:40 am
>> i grow. i grow like 100 pieces and when i cleaned up that property, i put 100 pieces on the north side of mrs. betsy. >> you picked the side that was closest to her property cause that was the side with the most sun. >> right. >> then what happened? >> then the property in 2004, i started to clean it up and make a vineyard. one of the trees fell down on her fence and broke her fence, you know. and i was very sorry about that. i want to do harm to the neighbor. i went to her, gave my business card to her and i said anybody happen, i fix up your fence. after four months, my business went bad and i didn't know she sue me. she got the judgment for $2,500. >> didn't you get service and notice? >> i didn't get a notice, no. >> you said you couldn't go to
3:41 am
court that day. >> i lost my business, okay? i lost my business. >> but it sounds like you knew you were being sued. >> first time, yes. first time i went to court and the second time i couldn't make it to the court. i couldn't make it. disrespect so she got a judge the against you. >> she got a judgment to me. >> that's what happens when you don't go to court. the other side wins. the judge doesn't like your excuse for ignoring court and he or she says no. we're not lifting the judgment. >> right. >> okay. and then that was how many years ago? >> that was recently. about four months ago. >> wait. when was -- >> i didn't know i got a judgment. >> when was the judgment entered? >> 2004. >> 2004. >> okay. and then when you are -- a year ago you realized there's a judgment against you? >> about six months ago. i didn't realize i have a
3:42 am
judgment. i was going to sell a piece off my land and then the judgment. what? i didn't know. >> tell me about what happened with the fence. do you live on that property? >> yes. yes. it's my home. >> how long have you lived there? >> 17 years. i have a little over two acres. i have some dog, rabbits, the whole bit. when was it? july, i think, of 2002, all of a sudden we see somebody drop off two spanish guys, who chairs, a gallon of water and a chain saw. ?r >> and of what relevance is it that they're spanish? >> because they couldn't understand what i was saying. >> it's not like because they're cheap labor. >> no. >> you do know i'm cuban, right?
3:43 am
>> yes. >> go ahead. >> no. they couldn't understand what i was asking them. >> it's not your property. >> you're wrecking my fence. >> you mean after the wreck -- >> yeah. >> they cut a tree and the tree fell the wrong way? >> yes. all over my fence. i had the horses out there. >> what kind of a fence is it? >> it was like an older chain link first that was there before we even moved there and a stockade fence closest to my property. >> can i see a picture of the fence? >> yes. >> you actually see it happen. is it the way he says, that he gave to you and gave you a business card and said he would pay for it or no? >> no. >> what happened? >> he did say he was sorry and he said he would fix the fence. however, he said he wasn't responsible for more than one
3:44 am
section of fence. >> okay. so he wanted to fix the damaged section and you wanted him to replace the entire fence? >> no. not at that time. but over time, because now i kept trying to contact him, he kept saying he wasn't responsible, he wasn't responsible. >> there's a damaged spot. he has to fix the damaged spot. but what seems to be the problem? i'm looking at -- with all due respect, a stockade fence and a chain link fence and it's not $2,500. >> over time he still had brush and everything else still against the fence. and it's wearing on the fence and it's pushing on the fence and pushing on the fence and it's almost like a domino effect. >> this is dead brush or -- >> now it is, yeah. if you look, you'll see vines like i have the more recent pictures. >> damage happened in what year? >> 2002. >> 2004 is when you filed suit? >> yes. >> when you filed suit, you filed for $2,500 which i can't
3:45 am
imagine you would have actually gotten but he ignores court. then you get a judgment against him. is there a conversation with him from 2004 when you got the judgment until 2010 or 2009 when he's trying to sell it and finds out you have a lien on his property? because apparently what you did is when forward with the judgment and you got a lien on the property. when you get a lien on the property and you go forward, someone is going to pay attention sometime. at some point somebody wants to sell the property and then they come forward. that's what happened here. he wants to sell the property and now somebody reaches you. tell me, from 2004 to 2009 or 2010 when all of a sudden he's paying attention, is there anything that happened? do you have a discussion? >> no. no. >> okay. and you didn't run into him. >> no. he's never there. so i never saw him. >> are there vineyards there? >> there's no vineyards there. >> what was there? nothing? >> it's brush.
3:46 am
it's knocked down trees, it's leaves. it's a wooded lot. there's no grapevines. i've never, ever seen a grapevine. >> did anybody use the lot for anything? >> no. >> you are here in court today because according to you, it's going to cost you $3800 to remove the manure she put on your property because she put manure on her property. >> she dumped it. >> she illegally dumped manure on your property. according to you, it destroyed your grapes. what happened? >> sounds like horse pucky. >> did you ,,,,
